While it may not be at the core of culinary endeavours in Manchester, I was really rather impressed with the plate of little green gems I was presented with the other evening at Pizza Express on Exchange Sq, Manc.
Named ‘Olives Nocellara Del Belice’ – I’ve yet to find a correct translation of meaning to the name – these beautiful little buggers had a rich, buttery flavour that really rather impressed me.
If you’re knocking about the Triangle or Deansgate with 20 minutes to spare, drop yourself at the bar and try them. They go brilliantly with the house Pinot Grigio, trust me.
Oh, and if anyone knows the translation or meaning, pray tell.

I think the ‘nocerella’ is the type of olive, and they’re from Belice, in Italy. So ‘Nocerella del Belice’ means ‘Nocerella olives from Belice’.
